The incident occurred during the night of November 25–26 in Nowogrodziec. At around 1:40 a.m., a car rammed a Biedronka store.
It is not yet known whether this was another attempted break-in (this time, nobody stole anything), or whether someone lost control of the vehicle and drove into the store. Officers from the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters are investigating the case.
We will return to this subject.
Let us recall. On November 19, we reported that brazen thieves had once again used a car to ram the storefront of a Dino store in Wykroty (the municipality of Nowogrodziec). They stole alcohol and cigarettes.
Activities aimed at apprehending the burglars are under way. The perpetrators could face up to 10 years in prison.
Importantly, similar incidents also occurred during the night of July 9–10 and at the beginning of August. And in the very same location! What is more, this type of crime also occurred in Zgorzelec County and Legnica County. Furthermore, about a day after the November raid, someone broke into a Dino store in the municipality of Chocianów.
In August, we wrote:
Could this be the same gang that found an illegal way to avoid paying for alcohol and cigarettes? But why have they targeted the Dino chain specifically?
We returned to the case in September. At that time, we reported that criminal investigators from Zgorzelec had been working for a long time on cases involving break-ins at local stores in Zgorzelec County and neighboring areas.
The group of thieves operated at night. They broke in using hammers and a car, forcing open entrance doors and driving inside. The driver remained in the car while the others stole goods.
The perpetrators stole mobile phones, televisions, alcohol and cigarettes. The total value of the stolen items exceeded PLN 80,000. The losses are greater, however, because the perpetrators smashed windows to enter the stores.
Through a thorough analysis of the collected evidence and operational activities, criminal investigators from Zgorzelec and Bogatynia identified people who might be connected with these crimes. On September 4, together with police officers from Wrocław, they arrested a 19-year-old woman from Lubań County and two men from Zgorzelec County, aged 37 and 39.
At the suspects’ homes, officers secured, among other things, a hammer that the perpetrators used to smash windows in the stores they robbed. In addition, the woman and one of the men were carrying drugs.
The court remanded all three in custody for three months. The suspects could now face up to 10 years in prison.
