Brazen thieves once again used a car to ram the storefront of a Dino store in Wykroty (Nowogrodziec municipality). They stole alcohol and cigarettes.
நடவடებები to arrest the burglars are ongoing. The perpetrators could face up to 10 years in prison.
Importantly, similar incidents took place both on the night of July 9–10 and at the beginning of August. And in the very same location! What is more, this type of crime also occurred in Zgorzelec and Legnica counties.
In August, we wrote:
Could this be the same gang that found an illegal way to avoid paying for alcohol and cigarettes? But why have they targeted the Dino chain in particular?
We returned to the matter in September. At the time, we reported that criminal investigators from Zgorzelec had been working for some time on cases involving break-ins at local stores in Zgorzelec County and neighboring towns.
The group of thieves operated at night. They broke in using hammers and a car, forcing open entrance doors and driving inside. The driver remained in the car while the others stole goods.
The perpetrators stole mobile phones, televisions, alcohol and cigarettes. The total value of the stolen items exceeded PLN 80,000. The losses were greater, however, because the perpetrators smashed windows to enter the stores.
Through a thorough analysis of the collected evidence and operational work, criminal investigators from Zgorzelec and Bogatynia identified people who might be connected with these crimes. On September 4, together with officers from Wrocław, they arrested a 19-year-old woman from Lubań County and two men from Zgorzelec County, aged 37 and 39.
At the suspects’ homes, officers seized, among other things, a hammer that the perpetrators had used to smash windows in the stores they robbed. In addition, the woman and one of the men had drugs in their possession.
The court placed all three in temporary custody for three months. The suspects could now face up to 10 years behind bars.
Could imitators have appeared? What do you think? We invite you to join the discussion.
