The ceremonial opening of the “Pole – Artist – Ceramicist” exhibition was scheduled for November 11, forming part of the programme marking the centenary of Poland’s independence. The works are displayed in two galleries of the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre – International Ceramics Centre: “Mała Biała” and “W sam Raz”; the temporary exhibition gallery at the Museum of Ceramics; the Tourist Information Point gallery in the Market Square; as well as the space of the new Knowledge Centre building and the beautiful interiors of Bolesławiec Town Hall. The exhibition can be viewed until December 11, 2018.
The exhibition features works by Polish artists, including those associated with Bolesławiec and those living far from their homeland but continuing to create without forgetting their roots. This hundred-strong group of creative personalities includes artists differing not only in their place of residence, but also in age—from fifth-year students and active professors to legends of Polish ceramics, including those who have already passed away—and in the techniques they use.
The artists present their work in a variety of ways: hand-building, throwing on the wheel, casting from moulds, creating ceramic installations, unique sculptures and vessels, and designing for architecture and applied art. The works included in the exhibition were not created specifically for it. The aim was to show works representative of each artist.
