The event began after 2:00 p.m. with the entrance of the Honor Guard Company of the 23rd PA and the color guards. The national anthem was then sung. Speeches were delivered by the mayor of the city Piotr Roman and the Bolesławiec county head Karol Stasik.
The county head referred to the current political situation in the country: “We are in an independent Poland, in a strong Europe. Each of us should ask ourselves whether the evil spirits of that period are once again beginning to hover over our country. Are divisions in society not a manifestation of what led to our downfall?”
Following the speeches, the monument commemorating the centenary of the restoration of independence was officially unveiled. The sculpture was then consecrated by Bishop Marek Mendyk. The Independence Remembrance Appeal was subsequently read out, followed by a ceremonial salute.
The ceremony concluded with performances of commemorative works by the “Bolesławiec” brass band, the “Cantate Deo” municipal choir, the “Kamerton” choir of the State Music School in Bolesławiec, and the “Voce d’Argento” choir.
