All it took was the prospect of a single day off (with the shops closed) for, on the eve of the holiday, the residents of Bolesławiec to begin their now-traditional assault on the supermarkets. Tomorrow (1 November) is All Saints’ Day, so traditionally: people have to sit in traffic jams, fight for a free parking space, get irritated in queues and stock up (for one day off).
See what the car parks outside Bolesławiec supermarkets looked like on 31 October, around noon:
The motorists who manage to avoid damaging their cars in the car park outside the supermarket or getting involved in a collision on the crowded roads on the eve of the day off can consider themselves lucky.
And all this so that on 1 November, with a clear conscience, they can go to the cemetery and, amid the general crowds and confusion, light a candle and remember their loved ones.
