Unusual weather—for October—favored a gathering of sailors from many sailing communities in Bolesławiec and the surrounding area. During the season-ending ceremony, the JOZŻ Board thanked the commodore of UKŻ Pirat Bolesławiec and club coach Jakub Jakubowski for his work promoting sailing among children and young people.
Other guests also spoke, including Jacek Pietraszkiewicz, treasurer of the Polish Yachting Association, who promised assistance in carrying out the tasks set by UKŻ Pirat Bolesławiec.
The club’s base also hosted representatives of Yacht Club Bolesławiec: bosun Zdzisław Graczyk, water-scout leader of the Bolesławiec ZHP Troop Dariusz Rataj, as well as Miłkowice Commune Head Dawid Stachura and GOKiS director in Miłkowice Anna Graf. (The Bolesławiec UKŻ Pirat cooperates with Miłkowice Commune to promote sailing among children.)
The event was also an opportunity to hold the 2nd Krępnica Championships—a regatta in the Optimist and Cadet classes. That day, children continuing their sailing adventure after participating in the nationwide “Polsailing” Sailing Education Program could test their skills by competing in the regatta.
The other children, parents and invited guests had the opportunity to sail Omegаs and use kayaks.
The competitors had to wait a long time for wind, so only one race was held, but champions were determined in three categories:
Optimist—advanced group
- Jan Tesarowicz
- Jakub Pasieka
- Mateusz Czasławski
Optimist—beginners’ group
- Marika Konieczna
- Jakub Stański
- Jakub Muniak
- Bartosz Adamowicz
- Dominika Pietrzak
- Julita Jaworska
- Hanna Kołodziej
Cadet
- Jakub Adamowicz and Wiktor Opała
- Adam Bronowicz and Konrad Rogowski
- Adam Kotwica and Michał Durniat.
Diplomas, trophies and medals funded by Bolesławiec Commune had been prepared for the competitors.
The event concluded with a barbecue, more group sailing and active recreation on the water. Attendance was strong, everyone had a great time, and now they are looking forward to the next sailing season.
The competitors from UKŻ Pirat Bolesławiec, however, have regattas ahead of them, so they are not leaving the water just yet.
