Oskar Ćwilichowski, a six-year-old resident of Łąka near Bolesławiec, had often been in hospital since birth. When he was two and a half, doctors diagnosed him with myelomonocytic leukemia. A bone marrow transplant was necessary. Oskar’s older sister, Gabriela, became the donor.
After a year and a half of treatment, the disease returned. The boy underwent a second transplant. – The disease stopped progressing, but complications occurred – Julita Ćwilichowska told the IstotneInformacje.pl portal, Oskar’s mother.
– Oskar is a very intelligent, cheerful and active child – says Julita. If his health allows, he will start kindergarten preparatory class this year. But he still requires expensive treatment, which his mother simply cannot afford. Julita receives a disability pension (she has survived acute leukemia) and is raising three children alone.
