There was no official opening (and if there was one, nobody informed the istotne.pl service about it), but we are pleased to report that the lights at Wiadukt Plaza are now working.

This will certainly improve the safety of people using the new municipal facility.

Let us recall. In August, we reported that a Reader had written to us: “There will be a skatepark. But where is the crossing for the kids? How are they supposed to get there safely? The nearest zebra crossing is at the intersection with Dolne Młyny Street.”

As Jerzy Zieliński, secretary of Miasto Bolesławiec, told us at the time, there are several routes leading to Wiadukt Plaza. But there will also be a direct crossing, equipped with pedestrian-activated signals. Its construction will be financed entirely by Gmina Miejska Bolesławiec.

The official added that it would take a while, because the crossing was to be built on a national road, and obtaining all the necessary approvals from the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways can be time-consuming.

Fortunately, however, it did not take terribly long.
