On October 1, 2018, a ceremony was held at the Olympic Centre of the Polish Olympic Committee to present Olympic nominations, conduct the traditional signing of the Olympic flag, and swear in the Polish representatives who qualified for the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games, taking place in Buenos Aires from October 6 to 18, 2018.
Among the athletics nominees was Bolesławiec resident and discus thrower – Gracjan Kozak. The athlete’s coach at MKS Bolesłavia Bolesławiec is Tomasz Markowski.
The more important achievements of this Bolesłavia athlete:
- he competed in the European Championships final – in the discus throw competition. And he won the bronze medal!
- as a youth athlete, he became the Polish runner-up, breaking the Lower Silesian record (1 kg discus – 61.67 m)
- during the June Polish LZS Championships, he became the national champion in the discus throw and runner-up in the shot put. He is also the Lower Silesian champion in these events).

On October 2 in the afternoon, the delegation will fly to Buenos Aires in two groups on scheduled flights. The Polish team will return home on October 21.
The aim of the YOG is not only sporting competition, based on qualifications previously earned according to criteria established by individual International Sports Federations, but also the promotion of conduct consistent with Olympic ideals, such as excellence, friendship, respect for sporting rivals and referees, and the ability to lose.
