On Friday, September 7, before 8 a.m., the duty officer at the Lubin police station received a report from a witness who noticed a man trying to throw a package through the window of Lubin City Hall twice. When he failed, he left the parcel on the sill of an outside window. He then walked away.

It turned out that the package was addressed to the mayor and contained a note. Its contents indicated that the bundle might contain dangerous substances or objects.

An investigative team from the Lubin police station went to the scene. The emergency medical service, fire service, gas emergency service and power emergency service were also notified.

The place where the package was found was cordoned off and secured by police officers. A bomb disposal and pyrotechnics team from SPAP Wrocław also arrived and examined the package. No dangerous substances that could pose a threat to the life or health of other people were found inside.

The prosecutor’s office launched an investigation into the case. Based on surveillance footage, police identified and arrested the perpetrator. He is a 24-year-old resident of Lubin.

The man has already been remanded in custody for one month. He now faces up to eight years in prison.
