The incident took place on Thursday, September 5, in Bolesławiec. Three men came to an 83-year-old woman’s home and claimed to be employees of the Water and Sewerage Company. The men pretended that they wanted to check the installation in the elderly woman’s apartment. In reality, taking advantage of the Bolesławiec resident’s inattention and gullibility, they simply robbed her—and of a considerable sum of money at that.
The police remind us: do not let strangers into our homes. And if someone claims to represent an institution and we suspect that they do not, we can always call that organization and verify the matter.
It is worth adding that this type of fraud often occurs in places where construction work is underway. (The criminals put on work clothes, which allows them to blend easily into the crowd.)
The lowlifes who robbed the elderly woman could face up to five years behind bars.
