Officers from the Criminal Department of Police Station I in Jelenia Góra established the identity of a woman whose body was found in 2006 in a body of water in the Siedlęcin municipality.

At the initiative of the police officers, the woman's identity was established after 12 years thanks to comparative examinations. It turned out that she was a 49-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra. Her family reported her missing in 1997. In total, the identification procedures lasted 21 years.

The information gathered in the case indicates that the woman most likely died as a result of an accident during the flood that struck the Jelenia Góra region in 1997.
