On August 28, at around 9:20 a.m., the duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters received information that someone had broken into a caravan on Sudecka Street in Legnica. Officers immediately went to the scene.

There, they found the owner of the damaged property, who told them that someone had smashed a window at the back and that a man was sleeping inside, on the sofa.

The officers woke the intruder. After a moment, he stated that he had smashed the window, but only because he wanted to sleep in the caravan. However, the items inside had been scattered, and a metal heater had been torn from the wall and prepared to be carried away. (The man had probably become tired while committing the theft and decided to lie down).

The 35-year-old resident of the Legnickie Pola municipality was detained and placed in police custody. What is more, it came to light that the man was wanted—he had to serve a prison sentence of two years and four months.

He now additionally faces up to 15 years in prison.
