On 26 June, perpetrators who were unknown at the time smashed a window at one of the electronics stores in Zgorzelec, entered the premises and stole cameras worth nearly PLN 60,000.

Zgorzelec officers took up the case. On 16 August—thanks to cooperation with officers from Wałbrzych, Wrocław and the Polish-German Nysa group—the police caught the first suspect: a 24-year-old resident of Wałbrzych County.

The detainee was taken to the Zgorzelec police headquarters, where he was charged with breaking into a store and growing cannabis. The man is also suspected of other burglaries at electronic-equipment stores, including in Lower Silesian and Greater Poland Voivodeships, as well as in Germany. (The total value of the stolen property is nearly PLN 300,000).

A week later, officers from Wrocław arrested the 24-year-old’s accomplice. Both men have already been remanded in custody for three months at the prosecutor’s request.

The police are currently taking action to recover the stolen property and arrest other people connected with the burglaries.

Both thieves could face up to 10 years in prison.
