The incident occurred on July 30, at around 3:00 p.m. The duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters in was informed that a man was standing on the roof of one of the buildings in Jelenia Góra and threatening to take his own life. The duty officer sent two patrols and a negotiator to the scene.
After more than an hour of talking with the desperate man, the officers persuaded him to come down from the roof. (The 40-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra admitted that he wanted to take his own life because of family misunderstandings).
The man received medical care.
