As Lubin police determined, on Saturday, July 28, after 6 p.m., on a straight section of national road No. 36 between Lubin and Wrocław, before the town of Niemstów, the driver of a Daewoo passenger car moved into the opposite lane for reasons unknown. The driver of a Renault traveling in the right lane, wishing to avoid a head-on collision, partly moved into the left lane.
At the same moment, the Daewoo driver attempted to return to his lane and struck the Renault. The force of the impact was so great that the latter vehicle entered a ditch, while the Daewoo collided head-on with a Ford traveling toward Wrocław. The Ford, in turn, was thrown backward and struck the front of a Mitsubishi passenger car with its rear.
Fifteen people were traveling in the cars. As many as 9 were taken to hospital. (Five of them were children).
A few hours earlier, a road collision involving 5 cars had occurred at the same location. Fortunately, no one was injured. The day before, a fatal accident in which a 57-year-old woman died had occurred on this section of road.
Police:
We appeal to all drivers to exercise particular caution. Many people travel very long distances when going on holiday. Let us be rested. If we feel sleepy, let us stop the vehicle and take a break. Let us behave in such a way that we arrive home safely and that no one is harmed because of us on the road.
