Forecasters warn that it will be hot throughout the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The maximum daytime temperature will range from 30°C to 34°C. The minimum nighttime temperature will range from 17°C to 20°C.
The level-two warning will be in effect from Monday, July 30 (12:00 p.m.) until Thursday, August 2 (6:00 p.m.).
WARNING! Extreme heat is particularly dangerous for young children and older people, those with diabetes or hypertension, and people with heart problems. People taking medication should also exercise particular caution.
How to get through a heatwave?
- avoid going outside during the hottest part of the day (10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.)
- avoid excessive sun exposure and sunbathing
- use sunscreen
- do not leave children, animals or flammable materials in a car
- wear loose-fitting clothing covering as much of the skin as possible; wear a hat and sunglasses
- drink plenty of fluids regularly
- avoid drinks containing alcohol or sugar
- eat light meals, paying particular attention to the freshness of the ingredients
- avoid physical exertion
- use cool showers and baths. (A completely cold shower during extreme heat may cause thermal shock)
- avoid large temperature differences between air-conditioned rooms and cars and the outdoor temperature
- close and cover windows during the day
- stay in the coolest room in the house, especially at night
- take care of animals. Do not expose them to excessive sunlight, provide them with unlimited access to drinking water, and ventilate the rooms where they stay
- observe your body's reactions during extreme heat. If you feel unwell, contact a doctor.
