We know that only a cow never changes its views, and that the desire for power can cloud anyone’s mind. But these two gentlemen, Nowak and Ogrodnik, were at each other’s throats less than eight years ago. Bogusław Nowak was then a councillor, and Wiesław Ogrodnik was deputy mayor.

Ogrodnik accused the councillor of devoting 95% of his interpellations to his private interests. Nowak threatened Ogrodnik with court action. The two older gentlemen, both over 60, seem to have memory problems today.

We remember. And now, in a frenzy of sabotaging the new Glina Show initiative, which enriches the Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival, the gentlemen have suddenly become friends. And Ogrodnik danced to Nowak’s tune. More strangely, both make money because the Ceramic Festival is better and more popular and has a new attraction. One earns money as president of Zakłady Ceramiczne, the other as co-owner of a restaurant and hotel.

What is this about? Certainly not plagiarism, because nothing of the sort is happening and anyone can organise an event involving clay. So why are they saying various things? Ogrodnik probably wants any kind of public exposure as a candidate in the upcoming elections. Nowak, it seems, does not want to be forced to stop refusing to put on his Gliniada unless the city pays him the exorbitant sum of PLN 45,000.

All that remains for Nowak today is what he has been doing with Gliniada for four years: selling it to other cities. Prices vary; he charges from PLN 5,000 upwards. When a foundation from Wrocław organised the Festival of White, Nowak charged PLN 20,000 for the performance alone and for renting the costumes.

Ogrodnik can now only hide behind a poor memory. And pay Nowak to put on Gliniada at his own Zakłady, as he did in May this year. How much did he pay? We do not want to say. But we know that Gliniada has its price. For Bolesławiec, it is sometimes eight times higher than for other cities.
