On 19 July, Bolesławiec police received a report stating that Rafał S. had damaged his former partner’s vehicle. (He smashed its windows and damaged the paintwork.)

Two days later, in the evening, the 39-year-old came to his ex-partner’s home again and threatened her with a knife. He demanded that she withdraw her request to prosecute him and change her testimony.

He also threatened his former partner’s mother with setting the apartment on fire. What is more, he took her wallet and telephone and drove away from the scene.

The injured woman notified the police, who attempted to detain the man. Despite the audible and visual signals, S. did not stop the car. Instead, he turned sharply left and struck with the vehicle’s left side the police officer who was trying to stop him. He was subsequently apprehended by other officers.

Rafał S. was drunk; he had 1 per mille of alcohol in his blood. On 23 July, he was brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec, where he was charged, among other things, with an active assault on a police officer. (He was also accused of committing seven other offences. S. admitted only some of the charges.)

At the prosecutor’s request, the court remanded the resident of Dobra in custody for three months. He could face a sentence of up to 10 years in prison. Fortunately, the police officer suffered no more serious injuries.
