Nowogrodziec police identified and detained a man suspected of a series of bank account break-ins and stealing money. The 36-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County found a wallet containing documents and a card. He decided to use the latter and paid for purchases with it six times at various stores. By paying at different establishments, the perpetrator was counting on the owner not realizing what had happened and on the whole story going unpunished.
When the card stopped working, the 36-year-old decided to... find the wallet’s owner and collect a finder’s fee. The owner offered PLN 350 for the return of his documents. Only later did he realize that the “helpful finder” had already collected his reward.
The suspect was charged with a total of six counts of burglary. He now faces up to 10 years in prison.
