The tragedy occurred on July 18, before 4 p.m., on a bend in national road no. 36, between Lubin and Ścinawa. Preliminary findings by investigators indicate that, for undetermined reasons, the driver of an Opel passenger car collided with an oncoming Audi.
A married couple died in the accident. The four people travelling in the other car were injured and taken to hospital.
The causes of the tragedy are being investigated by both the police and the prosecutor’s office. (An expert in the reconstruction of road accidents was also at the scene).
Three officers from the Lubin police headquarters, who were returning home after their shift, were among the first people to arrive at the scene of the accident. Nevertheless, the officers stopped and helped with the rescue operation.
Police:
We remind and warn you: speed is one of the most common causes of road accidents with tragic consequences. Therefore, we appeal to all drivers to exercise common sense and caution on the road.
