Yesterday, we received photographs from one of our Readers asking: “What happened to the tree near the courthouse in Bolesławiec?” The photographs showed a tree stripped of its bark. After the material was published, many comments appeared. Some people suggested that the bark might have fallen off after a lightning strike.
However, most Readers pointed out that the tree in the photograph is a plane tree and that there is nothing unusual about it periodically shedding its bark (this is explained as the tree’s reaction to air pollution). Indeed, as the Readers wrote, the tree in the park by the District Court in Bolesławiec is a plane tree. A similar phenomenon of bark shedding by plane trees can be seen in the park near the railway station in Bolesławiec.
