The total for the five-day training camps held since April was nearly 500 participants from twelve schools educating young people in uniformed classes, as well as from pro-defense associations. For five days, the cadets had the opportunity to learn in practice what military life is like, discover the specifics of military service and develop skills essential for military service.

During the training, they learned about tactics, marksmanship training, drill, topography, engineering and sapper training, high-altitude climbing, water training and medical rescue. Alongside the practical training, the young people took part in educational and preventive sessions conducted by the sappers of the Bolesławiec demining patrol.

Summing up the training, the vice-president of the Association of Former Soldiers of the 62nd Special Company “Commando,” Staff Sergeant Major (Reserve) Bogdan Fiałkowski, thanked the young people for their great commitment and the acting commander of the 23rd Artillery Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Sławomir Kula, for his help in organizing the training:

Thanks to the support of the Ministry of National Defence, many years of cooperation with the Bolesławiec artillerymen and other units of the Black Division, our Association can actively participate in training military classes and a range of other activities carried out for the defense of the state.

Lt. Col. Sławomir Kula:

I hope that the training at the 23rd Artillery Regiment gave you a great deal of satisfaction and enabled you to gain new experience in the field of pro-defense education. I believe that it will also be a step toward choosing your future profession and determining the course of your further life.

The exercise concluded with the presentation of certificates and the honoring of students who achieved the best training results with material prizes. The next edition of the “Commando” field exercises will take place in a year.
