Criminal investigators arrested two men suspected of stealing tools from the tower of the Bolesławiec Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The detainees are residents of the City of Ceramics, aged 25 and 30.

The thieves stole power tools from the crew renovating the church tower. The perpetrators reached the first level of the scaffolding and then climbed to a height of 35 metres. After the theft, they divided the loot between themselves.

One of the suspects was caught by police while he was going to sell his share of the loot. His accomplice was arrested shortly afterwards.

Officers have already recovered some of the stolen property. Efforts to recover the remaining power tools are ongoing.

Both detainees could face up to five years in prison.
