In February, workshops for preschoolers and primary school pupils began at BOK's Długa Gallery. They are led by Waldemar Wnęk-Siewierski, a photographer and cultural animator. By creating their own buildings from blocks made by Bożena Mazurkiewicz, the participants can take on the role of artists.
“When children enter the Gallery, I tell them that they are entering another world,” says Waldemar Wnęk-Siewierski. Wnęk-Siewierski draws a “secret sign of imagination” on each workshop participant’s hand. “Then I tell the children to build a world in which they will feel good,” the cultural animator emphasizes. “Each work is different,” he adds.
A sunset, an enchanted castle, a huge city, a colorful sea—the imagination of the young artists knows no bounds. But the workshops organized by BOK are intended to serve more than just fun. “We live in a world in which we are often condemned to shallow and simple emotions. During these classes, different kinds of feelings prevail. Here, a child creates and builds something great together with a friend. It may happen that this adventure changes one of these children’s lives,” the instructor explains.
The workshops will end on March 17. Approximately 1,000 children will take part.
