Investing in yourself – several ways

Before taking on such a challenge, we need to carefully consider our professional life. Do we want to stay in our current profession but climb higher up the career ladder, or perhaps do we want to change professions completely? The choice of the right educational path will depend on this decision. Once we have roughly developed a plan, it is time to decide to begin studying. The choice of educational opportunities is vast, but they can be divided into several groups.

University studies. This is a very broad range of options, so there is plenty to choose from. Universities are waiting both for those whose education ended with the secondary-school leaving examination and who now want to change that, and for those who want to complete additional postgraduate studies. Of course, all available fields of study are fee-based, but after all, we are talking about investing in yourself. If we choose a field with a promotion or a change to a more lucrative profession in mind, the cost of studying will quickly pay off.

Language courses. A language barrier often limits our opportunities for professional development. Most well-paid positions in private-sector companies require a good command of English, and knowledge of another foreign language is also welcome. Investing in yourself linguistically can also involve less common foreign languages. A specialist in a given field who also knows, for example, Dutch or Italian, is still a rarity in our labor market, and in such cases it is usually possible to negotiate remuneration.

Vocational courses. It could be anything: a computer graphics course, a professional driving license, forklift-operator qualifications, and so on. It is important to choose an offer from a training company entered in the MEN register and which, upon completion of the course, will issue a certificate that will be recognized by future employers.

Investing in yourself – where to get the funds for it?

Anyone who thinks ahead knows perfectly well that investing in yourself pays off. It is difficult to calculate a specific rate of return or the time after which we will begin to feel the material benefits, but the same is true, for example, of investment funds. We also do not know when or what profits we will achieve. What matters here is correctly choosing a course or field of study capable of genuinely increasing our professional opportunities.

It is also important to secure funds for this purpose. These may be savings accumulated earlier or a loan from our parents. When we do not have such options, it is worth applying for a loan from a bank or a loan company a short-term loan. Such companies often allow a fairly distant repayment date, for example 65 days, giving us plenty of time to gather the necessary funds. An undeniable advantage is the speed at which such a loan can be obtained. From registering on the website to receiving the transfer, usually no more than 40 minutes pass. This rapid service is useful when we come across a very favorable price for a course or studies and there is little time left before the promotion ends. This can sometimes save several hundred zlotys.
