The incident occurred on June 12, in the afternoon. The officer on duty at the Bolesławiec Municipal Police received a telephone report from residents of Ceramiczna Street. They were concerned by the strange behavior of a young man who was walking from one property to another, not responding to attempts to provide assistance.

A Municipal Police patrol was sent to the scene. The man's behavior was irrational; attempts to establish contact with him were unsuccessful. The officers therefore called an ambulance, which decided to transport the sick man to the psychiatric hospital on Tysiąclecia Avenue.

There, it turned out that the person was known to the facility's staff. The man had previously been treated for schizophrenia. The symptoms of the illness had intensified.

Since the man's condition could pose a threat to the life and health of both himself and other people, he was admitted to the ward.
