The incident occurred on June 9, at around 10:30 p.m., in Jelenia Góra. Passing by a shop, the 26-year-old picked up a paving stone for no apparent reason and used it to smash the display window of one of Jelenia Góra’s furniture stores, also damaging a piece of furniture on display. The damage was estimated at nearly PLN 2,000.
After being notified of the crime, police officers began searching for the vandal. In a nearby parking lot, officers spotted a man hiding behind a car. His description matched that of the suspect.
The 26-year-old was arrested and confessed to the crime. Unfortunately, he was unable to sensibly explain why he had smashed the display window.
The man was placed in police custody. He now faces up to five years in prison.
