The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 5. At approximately 2:05 p.m., the duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra was notified that three projectiles from World War II had been found. The unexploded ordnance was discovered during earthworks carried out near one of Jelenia Góra’s kindergartens.

Due to the threat to the lives and health of the children, teachers and residents of nearby buildings, more than 110 people, including 50 children, were evacuated for the duration of the operation.

Until the bomb disposal experts from Bolesławiec arrived, the site was secured by the Jelenia Góra police, including the explosive ordnance recognition team from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra. (Firefighters, emergency medical services, the gas emergency service and city authorities were also present at the site, among others).

After examining the matter, it turned out that the objects were panzerfaust projectiles from World War II. The soldiers from Bolesławiec secured the unexploded ordnance. No one was injured.
