After last week’s Polish under-16 record Michał Zazula set in the pentathlon, we expected good news from Suwałki, where the Polish Combined Events Championships were held. We were not disappointed. The athlete coached by Bartosz Gruman won confidently, finishing 445 points ahead of the next competitor. Michał decisively won the 110 m hurdles (15.77 s), long jump (6.49 m), shot put (10.71 m) and high jump (182 cm), and finished third in the 1000 m (2:52.54).
Our other under-16 combined-events athletes also fought bravely. Daria Piotrowska finished sixth (2,656 points), while Kornel Gruszecki was eighth (2,313 points). Among the juniors, Jakub Karaban was ninth (5,490 points), and Krzysztof Kamiński finished eleventh (5,241 points). Unfortunately, Jan Wasilewicz had to withdraw from the competition because of an injury.
Bolesłavia:
The successes of our young combined-events athletes would not have been possible without the training camp in Wolsztyn, which received financial support from Towarzystwo Budownictwa Społecznego and Henryk Guzik. We sincerely thank them for this.
