I don’t know whether [...] you know about the fact that MZK bus services to Kruszyn and Łaziska will be suspended as early as May and reportedly for several months—because of the closure of the roundabout and construction of the bypass.
She added:
To be honest, we are terrified because masses of children, young people and adults will have no way to get to school and work. All it would take would be for the wójt to subsidize bus services from Kruszyn through Łaziska to Bolesławiec, but unfortunately that is not happening. Perhaps it would be worth looking into this matter. Those who have cars will manage, but those who do not will face a serious problem.
Comment from the Bolesławiec municipality:
In connection with the information issued by Miejski Zakład Komunikacji w Bolesławcu Sp. z o.o. that, together with the end of the current school year, bus services serving the suburban localities of our municipality will be suspended, we would like to inform you that as early as the end of 2017, the Municipal Head—Andrzej Dutkowski—took steps to resolve this problem. The city authorities decided to introduce free public transport in Bolesławiec in connection with MZK’s implementation of a project involving the purchase of new buses. Under the terms of the project, the municipal fleet can no longer serve suburban routes.
Therefore, intensive talks with all carriers operating in the Bolesławiec municipality have been under way since the beginning of the current calendar year. The aim is to determine how they could use their fleets to fill the gap that will arise. The talks proved fruitful, as it emerged that these companies have such an option and are ready to adjust their timetables to the situation that will arise in the best possible way.
The main carrier operating on all routes will be Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacji Samochodowej w Bolesławcu (PKS), while other companies will supplement services on individual routes to provide passengers with the greatest possible comfort. Timetables will be adjusted so that during peak hours—morning journeys to work and afternoon returns—transport to and from Bolesławiec is provided. The most important issue was, of course, transporting children to schools in Bolesławiec, which has been guaranteed.
Based on the timetables presented, residents will be able to reach the city from as early as 5–6 a.m. Work is still under way on the detailed adjustment of times and services, so the final timetable will be presented once it has been approved.
We also address the residents of Kruszyn and Łaziska, who are receiving alarming information that when reconstruction of the roundabout in Kruszyn begins, these localities will be excluded from MZK service, meaning during the school year. We would like to reassure you that these services could be suspended at the earliest from mid-June. We are nevertheless holding talks so that this does not happen before the end of the school year. In any case, the roundabout in Kruszyn will remain passable throughout the reconstruction. During the first stage of the work, aleja 1000-lecia will be closed, and traffic to and from Kruszyn will run via the bypass or the newly built roundabout on the Łaziska–Bolesławiec route.
Maintaining uninterrupted traffic on the route to Kruszyn without disruption—by constructing a roundabout bypass—during its reconstruction is not possible because all technical infrastructure installations in the area directly adjoining the roundabout must be rebuilt.
Officials added:
The Municipal Head has repeatedly taken part in talks concerning traffic organization at the roundabout in Kruszyn being reconstructed. However, the contractor did not agree to another solution to this problem, explaining that the nature and complexity of the reconstruction being carried out made it impossible.
We assure you that the Bolesławiec municipality is making every effort to ensure that our residents feel the change of carriers serving their localities as little as possible. At the same time, we are aware of the difficulties that will arise when work begins on the roundabout in Kruszyn. We hope that, despite the initial difficulties, we will soon forget about them as we travel along the reconstructed and safe roads.
