On Wednesday, 16 May, unexploded ordnance was found in a ditch near the railway stop in Tomaszów Bolesławiecki (Warta Bolesławiecka municipality). Immediately after receiving the information, police officers went to the site to secure the area and ensure the safety of people who were nearby.
Two days earlier, on Jagiellonów Street in Bolesławiec, an excavator operator dug up several pieces of unexploded ordnance during construction work. Until the bomb disposal experts arrived, officers from KPP Bolesławiec secured the scene. (Together with firefighters and municipal police officers, the police evacuated more than 80 people.) Fortunately, no one was injured.
Officers remind the public that if an object resembling a cartridge, rocket or bomb is found, the uniformed services must be notified immediately, and the unexploded ordnance must not be touched under any circumstances.
