A post appeared on the Facebook profile of the volunteer firefighters from Czerna (Nowogrodziec gmina):

Thieves in Czerna. Today, 12 May 2018, thieves were on the prowl. Within 5 minutes, around 30 residents gathered in several cars and responded appropriately... They were unable to [...] find [złodziei], but the residents will remain vigilant.

It seems that the residents of Nowogrodziec gmina have no intention of letting the thugs intimidate them! And quite right!

Let us recall that several such incidents did indeed occur in Nowogrodziec gmina in the spring. Recently, however, the criminals’ activity—which is increasingly unsuccessful—has intensified; attempted thefts occur every few days. But the modus operandi of the thugs is not consistent, which is why, according to the police, it cannot be conclusively determined that the same person or people were responsible. What is more, the items targeted by the burglars also vary. This likewise contradicts the theory that crime specialists had taken a liking to one of the gminas in our county.

Officers from the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec are conducting operational activities in Nowogrodziec gmina. As a result, several suspects have already been detained, including three men who, unable to start a stolen car, towed it away, as well as a resident of Zgorzelec County who was wanted by the German justice system.

Unfortunately, the burglars are also taking full advantage of the fact that the weather has turned warm and people sleep with their windows open or slightly ajar. This makes the little thieves’ “work” easier.

We will certainly return to this subject.
