The incident occurred on 8 May in the Bolesławiec municipality. The perpetrator entered one of the music rooms located in a historic palace and stole musical instruments and other equipment. The total value of the property stolen by the 26-year-old was nearly PLN 12,000.
Bolesławiec criminal investigators very quickly established that the offence had been committed by a 26-year-old from our county who was well known to them.
The man was swiftly arrested and brought to a police station, where he gave a detailed statement and indicated where he had hidden the stolen items.
Investigators charged the 26-year-old with theft. The perpetrator had previously been convicted of similar offences. He now faces up to five years in prison. (The recovered property, which is undamaged, will soon be handed over to its owner.)
