Officers from the Police Station in Kruszyn detained two residents of Zgorzelec County—a 32-year-old woman and her 21-year-old accomplice—near one of the parking areas along the A4 motorway. The detainees were traveling in a car they had stolen in Bolesławiec. The vehicle had German license plates attached to it that belonged to a car which… had been stolen in Germany.
Bolesławiec police established that the 32-year-old woman and her 21-year-old accomplice had not only stolen the car in which they were traveling, but had also committed a number of other crimes and offenses. Officers brought charges against the detainees relating to vehicle crime: two charges of breaking into and stealing vehicles, and one charge of attempted vehicle burglary. In addition, officers proved that the detainees had committed several fuel thefts at service stations.
Meanwhile, officers from Kruszyn brought the pair five charges, also relating to fuel thefts causing losses to various fuel stations. According to the findings of the officers handling the case, the accomplices would drive up to a pump, where the man, who was a passenger, would get out to refuel, while the woman—ready to drive away at any moment—remained behind the wheel. After refueling, the 21-year-old would quickly get back in, and the car would drive away with a full tank.
Additionally, officers from Nowogrodziec proved that the residents of Zgorzelec County had stolen fuel from the tanks of trucks on three occasions. The incidents took place in March and April 2018 in large parking areas.
Both suspects now face up to 10 years in prison.
