The patrol that arrived at the scene was informed that, while passing each other, the driver of the BMW, a 30-year-old resident of Bolesławiec, moved into the opposite lane and caused a side-on collision with the Mercedes. The Mercedes was driven by a 26-year-old resident of Lwówek County. No one was injured in the collision; however, the BMW driver categorically stated that he did not admit fault and, in his opinion, the Mercedes driver was responsible.
The accounts of the incident differed significantly, so the police officers began determining the braking marks, the possible path of the vehicle and the damage to the cars. It turned out that the Mercedes driver had a driving recorder (dashboard camera) installed in her car. A witness who had seen how the collision occurred also came to the scene. The recording showed that the BMW driver had grossly violated traffic regulations. The BMW driver was travelling at high speed in the middle of the road and, while passing the Mercedes, scraped against it.
Because of the gross violation of traffic regulations, the BMW driver's driving licence was confiscated and a request for punishment was submitted to the court. The scene was also inspected, and the recording from the driving recorder was secured for the court.
