On Saturday, 28 April, at approximately 1:20 p.m., a traffic patrol of the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski, while on duty in the Lwówek Śląski municipality, attempted to stop a BMW for inspection. The car attracted the officers’ attention because it had no muffler. However, the driver began to flee. Using emergency signals, the police officers pursued him. The driver was successfully stopped in Rakowice Wielkie.
It turned out that the 34-year-old resident of Lwówek County did not have a driving licence at all. He also had no third-party liability insurance or other documents. German registration plates were attached to the vehicle.
The perpetrator was detained by police officers and will be placed at the disposal of the prosecutor and the court, which will impose a sentence. It is worth noting that, in addition to the offence of driving without the required authorisation, the driver committed a crime under the Criminal Code: he failed to stop for an inspection, for which he faces up to five years in prison.
The car was secured in the police car park.
