We have already reported that the square on Bankowa Street will be named 100th Anniversary of Regaining Independence. During the April session of the Bolesławiec City Council, that body will adopt a resolution concerning the monument located at the aforementioned square. The justification for the document reads:

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining independence. To commemorate this event, it would be appropriate to rebuild the monument located on Bankowa Street into a monument commemorating this Centenary. This is especially justified because the square where the monument stands is to be named: the Square of the 100th Anniversary of Regaining Independence. This requires a complete reconstruction of the existing monument, and its final form will be proposed by all political and social groups gathered in the Municipal Honorary Committee for the Celebrations of the 100th Anniversary of Poland’s Regaining Independence in Bolesławiec.

This broad consensus is an important reinforcement of the idea of bringing residents together as widely as possible around the values of love for the Homeland. […]

A good idea? We will return to the subject.
