Dominik’s mother exercised her right and declined to give testimony that could incriminate her son.
– I truly regret what happened, because it is all my fault; I ruined his life – said Agnieszka before leaving the courtroom, deeply upset and distressed.
Let us recall. The tragedy occurred in October last year in an apartment on Spokojna Street in Bolesławiec. Dominik killed his mother’s 36-year-old partner, and stabbed the woman in the stomach. The situation at the boy’s home had long been bad. His mother and her partner, Rafał P., abused alcohol. Dominik worked and studied, but his family squandered his money. On that fateful day, he learned that his mother had sold some of his belongings at a pawnshop. That was the final straw. The boy attacked the woman and her partner.
Agnieszka came from an alcoholic home. Her father drank, and her mother also drank. The family says that Agnieszka was a good, hardworking girl and initially tried very hard. She went to work regularly, but alcohol was always present. She fell out with her coworkers and came to work drunk. When she neglected her job and was dismissed, she earned money through seasonal work.
Dominik’s father was a brief acquaintance. The man disowned his son. Agnieszka had a second son, Dawid, with another man. It was this younger son who was taken away from her and cared for by his grandmother, his father’s mother. Dominik stayed with his mother. Quiet, calm, withdrawn. He could not stand up for himself. More and more new men passed through the apartment, but they did not support the mother and son. They took advantage of them, paid, and left. Then there was drinking. Men who cared about nothing and no one, without hope, opportunities, or support.
In court, Agnieszka used her only opportunity to stand by her child.
