In spring and summer, our children increasingly spend time at playgrounds and on bicycle paths. They ride bicycles, rollerblades, roller skates, skateboards or scooters.
Riding these devices is great fun, but only when we do so carefully and within reason. “We appeal to riders to behave safely, apply the principle of limited trust and observe good riding etiquette,” police officers say. “This will certainly have a positive impact on the safety of all road users.”
They add:
Let us remember that rollerblades, roller skates, skateboards and scooters must not be used on the carriageway. These are devices intended for recreation or extreme sports, so we use them away from public roads.
We appeal to parents and guardians to pay particular attention to their children. Let us remember not to disregard the danger and to equip the youngest children with elbow and knee pads, and above all with a protective helmet.
