A fire broke out in an abandoned building in the center of Warta Bolesławiecka, near the church, during the night of April 11–12, at around 2:00 a.m. When the first fire service units arrived, the entire roof of the two-story building, a former inn, was already ablaze.
The firefighters’ operation was difficult from the outset—the building’s roof was covered with asbestos-cement sheets, which began falling onto the road under the influence of the high temperature. The building has wooden ceilings, and the roof has collapsed.
Firefighters still cannot enter the building because there is a risk that it will collapse. Eight fire service units are operating at the scene. The road through Warta is blocked.
Fortunately, no one lived in the building, so there were no casualties. The police will determine the cause of the fire. We will return to this matter.
