On 4 April, at approximately 8:40 p.m., police officers from Gryfów Śląski serving in the Lubomierz municipality received operational information about the possible location of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was reportedly hidden in a forest complex near Pławna Górna. The officers decided to check immediately.

After driving up to and approaching the indicated location, the officers noticed a car standing in the bushes. A man was sitting inside and, upon seeing the police, attempted to flee. He suddenly drove off and began escaping towards Lubomierz. Using a police car with its lights and siren activated, the officers attempted to stop the fleeing man.

At the entrance to Lubomierz, the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a concrete post, immobilising the car.

The man was immediately arrested and subdued.

It turned out that the thief was a 34-year-old resident of Lubomierz who was wanted by law enforcement in connection with several cases, as well as to serve a one-year prison sentence.

The car was being sought by police because it had been stolen before Easter from Piechowice (Jelenia Góra County).

The perpetrator was detained in police custody at the court’s disposal, and detectives will investigate his activities thoroughly. Fortunately, he will await the hearing in prison, where he is due to serve his sentence.
