The holidays are a time of intensive work for Lower Silesian police officers, who watched over the safety of travelers. “This year's Easter holiday on Lower Silesia's roads passed peacefully. No one died during the past four days,” says asp. szt. Paweł Petrykowski from the press office of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. “Despite increased traffic on the roads, fewer incidents were recorded than on working days.”
During the holiday weekend, 19 accidents occurred in our province, injuring 32 people.
Lack of caution and recklessness on the roads remain the main causes of the accidents. The most serious one occurred on March 31 in Świdnica County. A passenger car that crossed into the opposite lane collided with a bus. Medical assistance was provided to 11 people.
Lower Silesian police officers arrested 89 people who, despite repeated appeals, decided to get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol.
Moreover, officers carried out 4,578 interventions. They arrested 258 people in the act. In addition, 93 wanted people, including 8 minors, fell into police hands.
