The incident occurred in the Węgliniec municipality. Police officers from the station in Pieńsk wanted to stop the driver of a Renault for a roadside inspection. However, he ignored the officers’ visual and audible signals, accelerated and began to flee.
The officers pursued him. The fugitive failed to obey road signs, and the manoeuvres he performed were extremely dangerous.
When he was stopped, it turned out that he had two active driving bans. Moreover, the man’s appearance and behaviour aroused the officers’ suspicions that he might be under the influence of alcohol or intoxicating substances. (It emerged that the 25-year-old had got behind the wheel after taking drugs).
The arrested man was issued a fine. He could now additionally face up to five years in prison.
