On March 15, at around 11:30 p.m., the duty officer at the Jelenia Góra Municipal Police Headquarters was notified of a fire in one of the multi-family buildings in Podgórzyn.
Officers determined that the fire broke out in a building where 17 people were present at the time of the incident. Using an aerial lift, firefighters evacuated three people from the apartment cut off by the flames. (They were taken to hospital).
As the building was seriously damaged, some residents stayed with their families, while the Podgórzyn municipal head provided the others with shelter at the Youth Centre.
The police and prosecutor’s office will establish the causes and circumstances of the incident.
