On March 11, at around 8:50 p.m., the duty officer was informed that a man was vandalizing one of the parked cars. It turned out that the vandal had thrown bottles at the vehicle and struck it with a metal rod. In this way, he smashed the rear window and a headlight and damaged the bodywork.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they confirmed the report. However, the vandal was already gone. Officers obtained a description of him from witnesses to the incident.
The suspect, a 28-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra, was arrested several streets away after a short chase. It turned out that the vandal had destroyed the car belonging to his ex-girlfriend’s current partner. Alcohol gave him the courage to do it. (The victim estimated the losses at no less than PLN 1,000).
The 28-year-old was taken into police custody. He now faces up to five years in prison.
