The crime took place in Klecza near Wleń (Lwówek County). According to information received by the police dispatcher, there had been a neighborhood dispute and one of the men was threatening people with an axe.
A police patrol went to the scene—and did so with sirens blaring. It turned out that, for unknown reasons, the 32-year-old man had flown into a rage and was threatening his neighbors with an axe. He then smashed the windows of a nearby house and eight parked cars. And... fled in an unknown direction.
The initial losses were estimated at PLN 10,000. The perpetrator fled and successfully went into hiding.
Detectives tracked him down only after two days. The man was arrested; he did not resist. He was taken to police custody.
The 32-year-old may now face up to five years in prison.
