Officers from the Criminal Division of the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters identified and arrested the perpetrator who misappropriated a payment card and used it 10 times.
According to the police findings, a 30-year-old resident of Bolesławiec found the card in a car park at one of the stores. He then used it to pay for purchases ten times. (More than PLN 360 disappeared from the victim’s account.)
The 30-year-old made the last two payments together with his 19-year-old friend. The latter will be held responsible for two burglaries.
The 30-year-old was charged with a total of 11 offenses. As a repeat offender, he could face up to 15 years in prison.

Let us remember: we should be very careful when using electronic payments and properly secure payment cards, because losing one can very quickly be exploited by criminals. It is important to monitor the account balance regularly and, if transactions we did not make appear in the transaction history, immediately notify the bank and block the card.
Let us also remember to take the card from the ATM after completing a transaction.
