Officers from the Bolesławiec traffic police, informed of a road accident between Krzyżowa and Kraśnik, were the first to arrive at the scene. There they discovered that a woman was trapped inside a Renault vehicle. Other drivers had tried to pull her out, but they were unsuccessful.
The officers immediately began rescue operations. At that point, smoke started coming from under the car’s hood, followed by flames. The officers promptly began firefighting operations, which they continued until the fire service arrived.
The fire was brought under control, and the woman was pulled from the car and taken to hospital. Fortunately, the incident did not end in tragedy!
Let us recall. The accident occurred on Monday, February 12, after 6:00 p.m., between Krzyżowa and Kraśnik. A 63-year-old resident of Gromadka municipality, who was driving a Renault, began overtaking a group of vehicles—a MAN bus being towed by an Iveco truck. The Renault collided head-on with an oncoming Volkswagen Passat driven by a 27-year-old man from Gromadka municipality.
Three people were injured in the collision. The most serious injuries were sustained by the 57-year-old Renault passenger, who was trapped inside the aforementioned vehicle. The Renault caught fire.
The woman, unconscious, with broken legs and burns, was taken to hospital. The 63-year-old at-fault driver was sober; he suffered broken ribs. The 27-year-old Passat driver was taken to a hospital in Legnica with general bruising. He has already been discharged home.
