Police arrested a 33-year-old man who, as an employee of a pawnshop, used false details to pose as supposed sellers who pawned various items. The fictitious contracts stated that the man was buying electronic equipment and jewellery, except that these items either did not actually exist or were worth very little. The 33-year-old took the money intended to purchase the aforementioned items for himself. In this way, the fraudster had already fabricated 20 contracts. (He had prepared more, but did not have time to carry them out because he was arrested.)
The 33-year-old admitted his guilt. He told the officers that he had debts to repay and needed money. As the officers established, the man misappropriated approximately PLN 22,000.
The suspect now faces up to eight years in prison.
